![]() ![]() When I'm taking down a random tree on my property with a chainsaw, it is easier for me to keep the piles orderly than in previous iterations, no logs landing weird and then flying off into the sky, or pieces magically floating above others. I realize I'm probably about to get my head chopped off, but it seems to me the hit boxes work SLIGHTLY better. While that's not too realistic, my perspective is at least it works now, which I cannot say for the state of Forestry when it came out in FS15. I find de-limbing to work better (once I learned where/how to point the tip of the saw, kind of a scraping motion side-to-side like a corn cob). ![]() ![]() The actual aim points/cutting mechanics seem unchanged or improved to me, it seems just a little easier to get the green ring to show up when using the chainsaw. Well it's all relative of course so I can't argue with any of you, but personally I'm finding forestry better than before. For about 2x the price, I like the DPW 80 but it would be nice if it had variable-height side options (with straps) like the SEK 802. The (cheapest) Stratmann SEK 802 trailer can be made mostly flat except for the front, and has straps in this configuration, but it's pretty short. I tried the Fliegl DPW 210 bale trailer but, while it has sides and is tall, it has no straps, is prone to fall over on turns, and does not hold very long trees well. Each time a new log (or whatever) is put on top, just quickly unfasten/fasten the strap and the items settle slightly as they're locked into place. I've managed to pile up probably 25 various-sized logs this way without the end extensions installed (just flat). It even works if something is still attached to a fork/hook/whatever but trying to "unstick" can be annoying. There's a neat trick (exploit?) with the trailers like the Fliegl DPW 80: each band/fastener/strap can be manually fastened/unfastened individually so you can pretty much put anything on it at any angle/rotation, fasten it, and it'll stay there until unfastened. ![]() Would be nice to be able to install rungs on the starter trailer for instance (the one that can be configured for bale transport) Originally posted by Futt:More options for wood transport would also be nice the Stepa is the only early-game option at the moment. More options for wood transport would also be nice the Stepa is the only early-game option at the moment. Weird hitboxes, invisible trunk parts, magnetic branches that stick to any frontloader tool in the vicinity, inconsitent weight (I can carry half a pine, but not a birch twig?) The pines/firs aren't that bad, but the leafy ones are a nightmare. It feels like using one of those claw crane arcade machines that can barely hold on to a plush toy lifting anything heavier than that just causes the claw to flop impotently and drop everything. I hate the new control scheme as you have a lot less control, especially of the outer boom, but I guess I can get used to that. Working near a pile of wood/limbs is a nightmare as random pieces of wood keep sticking to the tractor/skidsteer and/or the attachment. They seem to have been converted into powerful wood magnets. Oh and who holds a chainsaw that far out! Delimbing is very hit-and-miss and I usually have to do several passes at different angles. Audio stops while cutting if you move too much or cut too fast. Cut marker appears nowhere near the saw (looks like you have to aim with the center of your screen, not the saw). It was perfectly servicable in FS17, I don't understand why it was changed. I suspect the changes were meant to fix some issues, but as far as I can tell it's mostly gotten worse. Forestry has always been a bit wonky but I feel like there are some changes in FS19 that make it a lot worse. ![]()
